#1 Bloomfield Tech Flexes Its Muscle
Bloomfield Tech proved worthy of their #1 ranking in New
Jersey after storming past Trenton Central 76-46 in the
opening game of the Primetime Shootout. Dasean Butler
led the winners with 28 points and 11 rebounds.
Dante Rollins also got in
on the act by scoring 16 points including 2 treys.
Justin Johnson scored 8 points and grabbed 8 boards for
the Tornadoes in the loss.
Spotlight
Players
Dasean Butler 67 Sr. Forward (Bloomfield Tech)-
Butler was virtually unstoppable! When Casiem
Drummond got in 1st quarter foul trouble Butler once
again put the Spartans on his back. He displayed college
level post moves and the ability to draw contact on any
given play. He played like the #1 player in the state
today.
Dante Rollins 62 Sr. Guard
(Bloomfield Tech)- Rollins scored within the
offense and in the open floor. He can stick the open
jumper and has some sneaky athleticism in transition.
Justin Johnson 67 Sr. Forward
(Trenton Central)- The seldom-used Johnson
has shown some aggressive strides. He was a distraction
on defense (4 blocks) and finished with authority in the
post.
Spears Carries Blair
Boston College bound Shamari Spears scored 28 points and
snatched 14 rebounds as Blair Academy defeated Paterson
Catholic 71-63 in the second game of the Primetime
Shootout. Kimmani Barrett scored 26 points and Nicodemus
Eaton connected on 20 markers including 6 treys for PC
in the loss.
Spotlight Players
Shamari Spears 66 Sr. Forward (Blair Academy)-
Spears hit the boards with a purpose and capitalized on
the miniature Cougar frontline. All his buckets came
from high percentage range usually inside the paint. He
also showed above the rim play with multiple hard
stuffs.
Kimmani Barrett 66 Sr. Forward
(Paterson Catholic)- Barrett tried to carry
the Cougars as usual but didnt have enough in the tank
to get it done. The talented forward played the point
position for most of the game because of the absence of
Jordan Theodore.
St. Benedicts Soars Past
Eastern Commerce (Canada)
St. Benedicts placed four players in double figures
(Samardo Samuels 18, David Cubillian 17 (5 Treys), Lance
Thomas 15 and Corey Stokes 10) as they blew away Eastern
Commerce of Canada 85-61 in the third game of the
Primetime Shootout. Learie Duncan led the Canadian team
with 18 points in defeat.
Spotlight Players
David Cubillian 61 Sr. Guard (St. Benedicts Prep)-
Cubillian has to be the hottest shooter in the region
right now. He takes full advantage of teams that try and
zone the powerful Newark squad. If his hot streak
continues Oak Hill could be in trouble Saturday.
Lance Thomas 68 Sr. Forward
(St. Benedicts Prep)- Thomas played inspired
ball from the opening tip. He ran the floor like a deer
and made his presence felt on the glass. This was one of
his best offensive showings of the season.
Learie Duncan 61 Sr. Guard
(Eastern Commerce)- Duncan was the lone
bright spot for the Canadian ballers. He wasnt fazed by
the Gray Bees defensive pressure and was able to produce
offensively in the lane.
