The best high school basketball showcase in the country returns to New Jersey this weekend. The Primetime Shootout kicks off Thursday night at South Brunswick High School and continues for the next 3 days (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) at the Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, NJ.






 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The top teams in Metro Area will take the floor and compete against some of the top prep powers in the country. Heres a breakdown of the top teams participating.

AMERICAN CHRISTIAN Ashton, Pennsylvania
Tyreke Evans is considered by many to be the top sophomore in the country and so far the 64 star has not been disappointing. Evans is playing along with 611 Hamida Rahman and another 64 sophomore Nasir Robinson.

BISHOP OCONNELL - Arlington, Virginia
Joey Wootens team is led by 610 St. Josephs recruit Rockwell Moody and Jason Colenda who will be going to Navy next season.

BLOOMFIELD TECH Bloomfield, New Jersey
Bloomfield is led by 66 Dasean Butler, 68 Casiem Drummond (Villanova), 61 Marquise Moore, 61 Dante Rollins and 60 Wes Jenkins.

CHRIST THE KING Middle Village, New York
Although a relatively young team, Bob Olivas squad has been ranked among the nations top twenty five for most of the season. Leading the way are 64 Jr. Larry Davis (N.C. State), 62 Nikko Scott (Columbia), 63 Rod Hampton, 61 Chris Martin (Stonybrook), 64 Andrew Gabriel and 58 Jr. Malik Booth).

De LA SALLE Concord, California

DEMATHA CATHOLIC Hyattsville, Maryland
The Stags are one of the best teams in the country. They won the Beach Ball Classic in December and hope to play well at Prime Time. They have a bench full of star players including 63 Nigel Munson (Virginia Tech), 511 Jeff Peterson, 69 Jr. Jerai Grant, 68 So. Jay Thames and 65 Jr. Austin Freeman.

EASTERN COMMERCE Toronto, Canada
This Canadian team is always a pleasure to watch. They are led by 66 Khris Montaque, 62 Learie Duncan, 65 Earl Greene, 62 Chretien and 610 Nick Rigakos.

EPISCOPAL Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Episcopal is led by 64 Wayne Ellington (North Carolina), 65 Gerald Henderson (Duke) and 69 Mike Yocum (Albany).

HADDONFIELD Haddonfield, New Jersey
Led by 71 Brian Zoubek (Duke) and 65 Blake Wilson (Princeton), this team is capable of knocking off some of New Jerseys top teams this season.

LINCOLN Brooklyn, New York
Lance Stephenson is regarded by many analysts as the top freshman in the country. The 64 guard has played extremely well so far this season. Other players are 69 Brandon Waters, 68 Jr. Tyrell Lynch and 60 Johnny Flynn who has committed to Florida to play football.

MONTVERDE ACADEMY Montverde, Florida

This talented team has not played as well as expected but their lineup is dotted with individual stars. They include 71 Jr. Solomon Alabi, 68 Syzmon Lukasiak-Jacksonville, 65 L.D. Williams (Wake Forest) and 67 Frank Ndongo

MOUNT VERNON Mount Vernon, New York
Mount Vernon has been a highly ranked team for most of this season. Top players include 63 David Clark, 69 George Brown, 60 Jr. Mike Coburn, 67 sophomore Kevin Jones and highly touted frosh 64 Sherrod Wright.

NIAGARA FALLS
Niagara Falls, New York

This team lost star Paul Harris to Notre Dame Prep but had a great start and may still surprise many when Prime Time begins. They are led by 68 Tyrell Lynch and 510 Jr. Johnny Flynn (Syracuse).

NOTRE DAME PREP Fitchburg, Massachusetts
One of the top Prep Schools in America. Two of the best players on this team played last year in the Primetime Shootout with different schools. Paul Harris (Syracuse) put on a great individual show with Niagara Falls against Vashon in last years Prime Time. Derrick Caracter (Louisville) played last season with St. Patrick. Notre Dame also has other individual stars including 65 David Burton (St.Francis).

OAK HILL ACADEMY Mouth Of Wilson, Virginia
Steve Smiths team won the USA Today National championship the past two seasons and has won many others. This years team includes 69 Albert Jackson (Georgia), 60 Tywon Lawson (North Carolina), 66 Landon Milbourne (Maryland), 66 Anthony Wright, 66 Jeff Allen (Virginia Tech), 68 Jr. Michael Beasley (Charlotte), 62 Nolan Smith and 65 Bill Clark.

OUR SAVIOR NEW AMERICAN - Centereach, New York
This team is also loaded with great individual stars. They won the Dell Curry Shootout in Charlotte, North Carolina during the Christmas holiday season. Players to look for are 69 Rico Pitt (Stony Brook), 61 Timmy Ambrose, 63 Dave Kaba, 60 Tyrone Williams, 67 Enrique Cova, 72 David Marial Dhal, 70 Steven Yien Matukol and 67 Eric Noubisse).

RICE Manhattan, New York
Rice started the season with a defeat but has gradually gotten back to where most top analyst thought they would be. They are led by 69 Curtis Kelly (Connecticut) and 63 Edgar Sosa (Louisville). Elijah Whitehead is also an outstanding player.

RUFUS KING
Milwaukee, Wisconsin

This team is always talented and are again this season. Top players include 611 Mitchell Carter-South Carolina, 66 So. Byran Brown, 63 James Pruitt, 62 Troy Cotton-Wisconsin Green Bay) and 511 Korie Lucious who is one of the nations best sophomores.

SOLON Solon, Ohio

Always one of the best teams in Ohio. Solon is a young squad led by 69 Junior Dallas Lauderdale. Other top players include Anthony Brown and Pat Hewitt. Two up and coming freshman, 67 Reggie Kelly and 62 Billy Grant guarantee a bright future.

ST. ANTHONYS Jersey City, New Jersey
Bob Hurley is one of the nations best coaches and his teams have won numerous State and National Championships. This years lineup includes 62 Miles Beatty, 59 Derrick Moore (American) and 511 Travor Woodall.

ST. BENEDICTS
Newark, New Jersey

Danny Hurley has a star studded lineup of individual stars this season including 68 Samardo Samuels, 511 Eugene Harvey, 67 Lance Thomas and many others. They have played in a number of outstanding events winning the Holiday Hoops Classic in Arkansas and the Piggly Wiggly Roundball Classic in South Carolina.

ST. PATRICK Elizabeth, New Jersey
As usual Coach Kevin Boyle has a superb team with outstanding individual players and have been ranked high nationally for most of this season. The Celtics best players include 510 Corey Fisher, 64 Ruben Guillandeaux, 68 Yannick Foormbor-Nono, 68 Duquan Cook, 66 Jr. Yves Mbala, 62 Jhamar Youngblood, 65 Jr. Jeff Robinson and 510 Mark Meadows.

ST. VINCENT-ST. MARY
Akron, Ohio

This school is known primary for All- American Le Bron James, now a star in the NBA, but they might be just as good a team as back then. Marcus Johnson, a 63 star, has inked with (Dayton).


THE HUN SCHOOL Princeton, New Jersey
Hun is one of the best teams among Prep Schools. Players listed for this team included 66 Jr. Idris Hilliard, 66 Jr. Randy Kellman, 60 Geoff Rizk, 68 Josh Davis, 65 Chris Petrie, 66 Lance Goulborne, 64 Jr. Junior Randy Mershon.


TRENTON CENTRAL- Trenton, New Jersey
The Tornadoes remain the top dog in Mercer County and Central Jersey Group 4. This energetic bunch is led by 64 Sr. James Livingston, 64 Sr. Tyrone Prewitt and 59 Jr. Samir Ali.

TRENTON CATHOLIC ACADEMY- Trenton, New Jersey
The Iron Mikes have changed their school name (Formerly McCorriston) but still have the spirit and heart of their upbeat coach Fred Falchi. The talented senior backcourt of Gamar Johnson and Jeff Randall guides this young group.


VASHON St. Louis, Missouri

Floyd Irons team might have won the National Championship last season had it not been for a loss to Poplar Bluff in the state finals. Top players are 67 Jr. Ray Harrell, 59 James Washington, 66 Jr. Leon Powell and 65 Bobby Hill (Southern Illinois).
