Bloomfield Tech's 6-3 do it all senior
guard Rashon Dwight has some big shoes to fill with the graduation of two
All-State players from last year's roster.
Rashon Dwight may be the most versatile player in the class of 2007 in New
Jersey. At 6-3 Dwight can play all 3 guard spots. Actually, during the high
school season he sometimes plays all 5 positions. "Rashon will do whatever is
takes to win games" said his Team New Jersey Elite AAU Coach Derrick Bobbitt. "I
thought he was the X-Factor on those great Bloomfield Tech squads over the past
two years". "If I needed him to play point guard spot, he played well, If I
needed him to defend the other teams best player he would shut him down." "I
thoroughly enjoyed coaching him" added Bobbitt.
Defensively, Dwight is arguably the best defensive player
in New Jersey. "Wow! Can he defend." added Bobbitt. "This summer I've seen him
shut down some of the best guards in the country." Rashon long arms give him the
ability to pressure on ball at all times. It also gives him the ability to cover
bigger guards as well. I love playing defense, it's the strength in my
all-around game." said Dwight. "I feel that I can cover anybody. If I can't stop
him I will at least contain him."
This summer Dwight displayed his well
rounded game at the ABCD camp at FDU in Teaneck. Rashon had a solid camp. Dwight
averaged 7.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.5 assist per game. Rashon finished camp
with a player rating of 18.0. Second highest rated player in New Jersey.
"Rashon a special kid" said Bloomfield Tech's head coach Nick Marinello.
"He's been a great teammate and leader in this program the past 3 years".
Dwight will again lead the charge for the Spartans, as Bloomfield Tech will
attempt to win it's 3rd Group I Championship in 4 years.
Rashon will play
ball next year for Iona.
