There will be a new TOC
Champion in 2006 as defending champ Seton Hall Prep got
dismantled by Linden 62-43 in the NJSIAA Tournament of
Champions quarterfinal. Linden placed three players in
double figures (LJ McGhee 16, Darryl Lampley 18 (4
treys) and Charles Miller 15). Ashton Gibbs finished
with a team high 12 points for the Pirates in the loss.
Spotlight Players
Darryl Lampley 5’9 Jr. Guard (Linden)- The
hero of the Group 4 finals came out on fire again. He is
shooting the rock with great confidence and looks
forward to having the ball in his hands. He will need a
repeat effort on Saturday to get past Bloomfield Tech.
Charles Miller 6’5 Sr. Forward
(Linden)- Miller killed Seton Hall Prep
frontline all evening. He beat them to the boards and
converted numerous put backs. On defense he made life
difficult for Alex Wujciak and company by deflecting
shots and clogging the lane.
Ashton Gibbs 6’1 So. Guard
(Seton Hall Prep)- Gibbs had a tough time
solving the Tigers defense. He tried to penetrate but
their defensive rotation pushed him back to the
perimeter. He then settled for his jumper but he
couldn’t find his range for most of the evening.
