Rev. Dr. Frank Naiper Jr. Scholarship Tournament Day Two

Rahway's Earl Clark

Day 2 kicked off with a dandy.  Union County +2 added incoming Freshmen Antwan Alexander to the squad and won in overtime 75-67 over Paterson Eastside.   Antwan will be enrolling at Paramus Catholic in the fall, and boy did he make a statement.  Playing with such notable players as Earl Clark (Rahway) and Anthony Nelson(Plainfield), the rising 5'9 Fr. decided to make his entrance known by going for 15 points and 4 assist.  He's definetly a player you may want to keep an eye out for.  Deshawn Mitchell  (Oak Hill Academy or St. Benedict) led all scorer's with 24 points.

Game 2 matched up St.Benedicts and Paterson Kennedy.  After leading by as many as 12 points in the first half, Kennedy began to fold out of contention after the Gray Bee's started to pressure the basketball.  St. Benedicts used a 21-1 run to end the 1st and start the 2nd to go on and win 64-54.  Incoming Freshmen Tamir "Pops" Jackson netted 11pts and dished out 4 assist.  Sr. Rashad Bishop led Kennedy with 12.  **Side note.  If it is a more athletic player in the state of New Jersey than Senior Rasheed "The Birdman" Benjamin, Please email me.  This 5'10 Senior has to have a 47'" vertical!

Game 3 was a contest between Paterson Catholic and Paramus Catholic.  Paterson led at the half by the score of 40-33 with Kamani Barrett scoring 10 and So. Jordan Theodore netting 9.  In the 2nd half, Terell McKenzie tied to rally the troops by getting 11 of his 20pts but it was not enough.  Paterson Catholic went on to win 76-68 to set up a 3pm Chip vs St. Benedicts.  So. Wayne Mack scored 13pts for Paramus, and Nicodemious Eaton added 21 to Kamani Barrett's 16pts and 10 rebounds.
