Philadelphia Catholic League
Semifinals results:
#2 Roman Catholic 62 – #9 Cardinal
Dougherty 44
Roman Catholic defeated Cardinal Dougherty
62-44, Roman was led by sophomore Maalik Wayns who scored 17 points.
Wayns is one of the top sophomores in Philadelphia; he has a real good feel for
the game and great court vision.
Also for Roman Catholic, University of
Pittsburgh signee Bradley Wanamaker scored a game high 22 points and
junior Will Kirkland chipped in 9 points.
Cardinal Dougherty was led by senior
Roberto Townsend 12 points and freshman Willis Nicholson 10 points.
Philadelphia Catholic League Northern Division MVP Khalil Mumford was
held to 7 points. Mumford ended the season as the lead scorer in the PCL
Northern Division, with the season that he had, I wouldn’t be surprised if
Mumford signed with a mid major Division 1 school.
#1 Neumann-Goretti 73- North Catholic
45
Neumann-Goretti breezed by North Catholic
73-45. Neumann-Goretti senior center Rick Jackson had another big game
pouring in 26 points. Jackson has been on a tear during the playoffs, averaging
24 points per game. Antonio “Scoop” Jardine played well also scoring 17
points. Freshman Tony Chennault scored 9 points while junior Jamal
Wilson added 8 for the Saints.
North Catholic only saw one player reach
double digits, which was junior point guard Velton Jones, who scored 11
points.
Rematch: Looks
like everything is in place for the match up we have all been waiting for
Neumann-Goretti vs. Roman Catholic.
