AA Preview

What to look for: AA is loaded with Division One talent. Teams such as Prep Charter, Aliquippa, and Imhotep Charter each have other three Division One prospects. I like Prep Charters chances of repeating, even though a possible match up with rival Imhotep Charter lurks in the future. I think the experience of Coach Brinkley, and the Morris brothers will help guide the young Husky team to success.

Out West it looks like a District 7 championship rematch of: Aliquippa and Jeanette, where Aliquippa won 73-69. In this rematch I like Aliquippas chance to win again. The Quips are led by junior Jonathan Baldwin, Herb Pope (New Mexico State signee), and Antonio Reddic. Keep an eye on junior Terrell Pryor of Jeanette; Pryor is the top junior in the AAA tournament. He can do it all at 66.

This leads to an Aliquippa/Prep Charter state championship match up. Earlier this season both teams met up at York College, the Quips pressured the young guards of Prep to force many turnovers and fast break opportunities. In a way that previous loss was good for Prep Charter, due to the fact that they were playing without their third lead scorer sophomore Jesse Morgan. Morgan could be the difference maker in this rematch. He brings a lot to the table; he is a smooth ball handler with a nice stroke from outside.

Look for the Huskies to raise the PIAA state championship trophy in late March.

Roundball Classic: Congratulations to Aliquippa senior Herb Pope on making the Roundbal Classic which will be play Tuesday, April 3rd at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.

Final Four Predictions:
