Church 54 – Abington Friends 46
Academy of the New Church
avenged an earlier season lose to Abington Friends by defeating them 54-46 in
the Friends League Championship at Haverford College on Friday night.
Academy of the New Church
jumped out early to a 20-5 first quarter lead and never looked back. The Lions
were led by sophomore Shannon Givens 18 points, Khalif Foster 18
points, and junior Sam Givens 15 points.
Abington Friends was led by
Brandon Williams 12 points, Jeremy Hurst 11 points, and Lehigh
University signee Rob Keefer 10 points.
This may not be the last time
that these two teams meet up; both Academy of the New Church and Abington
Friends will be participating in the “Independent School Tournament”. This is a
state tournament for non PIAA teams. The top four teams will get byes which
include: ANC, Abington Friends, Hill School, and Solebury.
Inter Ac Showcase Tournament Final
Germantown Academy 66 –
Malvern Prep 56
Germantown Academy defeated
Malvern Prep 66-56 for the Inter Ac post season title. Germantown Academy was
led by LaSalle University signee Kyle Griffin. Griffin scored a game high
24 points (8-9 from the free throw line) and collected 9 rebounds. Senior
D.J. Johnston added 12 points of his own.
Malvern Prep was led by Mike
Francisco who posted a double double scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Phil Gosselin also played well for Malvern Prep by scoring 11 points.
Germantown Academy ended their
season finishing 17-11 while Malvern Prep ended the season at 19-9.
